Introducing the Prindle 5K
This fall, the trails of the DePauw Nature Park will host something new. On Sunday, November 8, the Prindle Institute for Ethics launches the Prindle 5K, an annual race for runners, joggers, and walkers that starts just outside the Institute’s doors. The Institute sits in a former limestone quarry at the heart of the 500-acre Nature Park, and the 5K makes the most of the setting. It’s a good excuse to spend a Sunday afternoon under the trees, whether you’re chasing a personal best or taking it at a stroll.
The race will also give back. Each year, the Prindle 5K will support a different local cause, chosen to reflect questions our community cares about. For the inaugural race, the Institute is partnering with the DePauw Chapter of the American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., and awareness, early detection, and research save lives.
Check-in runs from 1 to 1:45 p.m., and the race begins at 2 p.m. Registration closes Thursday, November 5, and the first 50 registrants receive a free T-shirt. Register by November 5. Lace up, bring a friend, and help us start a new tradition.
