Concerned Philosophers for Peace Hosts Annual Conference at the Institute
The Concerned Philosophers for Peace gathered at The Prindle Institute for Ethics on Oct. 16-17 for its 39th Annual Conference, “War and the Environment.”
What does war do to the ground beneath it? And what does that mean for the chances of a lasting and just peace? Sessions took up how war, and even the preparation for it, shape the environment, alongside broader work on peace and nonviolence. The conference drew scholars and practitioners from across philosophy, law, public policy, history, religious studies, political science, and related fields. They met at the Institute’s campus in the DePauw Nature Park, a setting made for the kind of unhurried discussion and dialogue the work calls for.
Concerned Philosophers for Peace is an organization of professional philosophers in North America who analyze the causes of violence and the prospects for peace.
