Dinner and Democracy with Lindsey Cormack
Where do citizens come from? As part of Voices and Votes: Democracy in America, the Prindle Institute for Ethics and the Greencastle League of Women Voters invite you to Dinner and Democracy with political scientist Lindsey Cormack, author of How to Raise a Citizen (And Why It’s Up to You to Do It). Cormack argues that schools can no longer carry the full weight of civic education, and that parents, caregivers, and communities must help young people understand how government works and why their participation matters. Drawing on her research and her own experience as a parent, she offers practical, nonpartisan strategies for talking about politics at home, from how voting works to what the Constitution actually says.
Cormack is an associate professor of political science at Stevens Institute of Technology, where she also created DCinbox, a database of every official email newsletter members of Congress send to constituents.
