We're better together.
Our work thrives on collaboration. The Prindle Institute partners with educators, researchers, and organizations across Indiana and beyond to advance ethics education in every setting—from classrooms and universities to museums and community spaces. Together, we develop innovative programming, conduct research on the impact of ethics education, and design experiences that invite curiosity, reflection, and dialogue. Whether we’re working with local schools or national institutions, our partnerships embody a shared commitment to helping people think critically about the ethical dimensions of life.
Association for Practical and Professional Ethics
Since 2017, in order to better engage the nation on the critical issues of our time, the Prindle Institute for Ethics has been the institutional home and headquarters of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE). Founded in 1991 and focused on the practical application of ethics in classrooms, workplaces, and local communities, APPE now is the largest professional ethics organization in the world. The Association is also the home of the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl, as well as the Research Integrity Scholars and Educators (RISE) Consortium, and regularly serves as an international convener of Ethics Centers and Institutes.
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis
The Prindle Institute partners with the Education, Interpretation, and Design teams at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis to bring philosophical reflection and ethical inquiry into new educational contexts. Through this collaboration, Institute staff train museum educators in dialogical pedagogy and facilitation methods inspired by the Teaching Children Philosophy program, consult on exhibit interpretation and design, and assist with assessment of character development programming and resources. Together, we’re helping create museum experiences that invite curiosity, conversation, and critical thinking about life’s biggest questions.
The Smithsonian Institution
The Prindle Institute is honored to partner with the Smithsonian Institution and Indiana Humanities as a host site for Voices and Votes: Democracy in America, part of the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street program. Opening at the Institute in Fall 2026, the exhibition explores the ongoing experiment of American democracy and the civic ideals that continue to shape our nation. Through this partnership, the Institute will collaborate with the Smithsonian and local partners to present programming that deepens public reflection on democratic life—engaging students, educators, and community members in dialogue about participation, citizenship, and the ethical responsibilities of self-government.
Parr Center for Ethics (UNC, Chapel Hill)
The Prindle Institute maintains a close partnership with the University of North Carolina’s Parr Center for Ethics, home of the National High School Ethics Bowl (NHSEB). As the Midwest destination for Ethics Bowl programming, the Institute hosts both Regional and Divisional competitions and serves as a hub for program development and educator training across the region. Beyond Ethics Bowl, the centers enjoy a continued collaboration focused on the development of cutting-edge assessment methodologies for ethics education—researching how ethical reasoning, empathy, and civic engagement can be effectively measured and strengthened across the lifespan.
