William & Mary Wins IEBOnline 2025
This weekend, eighteen teams from colleges and universities across the country came together online for a full day of thoughtful, good-spirited debate at the 2025 IEBOnline Regional Competition, hosted by the Prindle Institute. From the first welcome remarks to the final round, students tackled some of today’s toughest moral questions with curiosity, care, and a spirit of collaboration.
Unlike traditional debate, Ethics Bowl rewards teams not for defeating an opponent, but for doing something far more meaningful—thinking carefully together about difficult questions. Across every room, judges noted the clarity, humility, and mutual respect that make this event special.
After three preliminary rounds and two elimination matches, the College of William & Mary took home the title of 2025 IEBOnline Champion with a perfect 5–0 record. Yale University and the University of Pennsylvania earned qualifying bids to the APPE Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl National Championship, where they’ll represent their institutions next spring in St. Louis, MO.
The day’s success owed much to the incredible volunteer moderators and judges who kept discussions fair and engaging—and to the Hillman Interns, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to staff and moderate matches across the country. Together, they made possible a day defined by rigorous thinking, respectful dialogue, and genuine intellectual community.
Congratulations to all our competitors, and thank you for making IEBOnline 2025 one to remember!
