ICDP Site Application

Join the partnership and build skills in dialogue and disagreement.

The Intercollegiate Civil Disagreement Partnership (ICDP) equips undergraduates with the habits and virtues needed to engage meaningfully across difference. Through a year-long, cross-institutional fellowship, students from diverse colleges and universities train together in the practice of dialogue, learn to facilitate conversations across political lines, and help cultivate healthier cultures of disagreement on their own campuses. ICDP also supports faculty and staff through professional development that brings these same skills into classrooms and student-facing spaces. With new partners joining through the Educating Character Initiative, ICDP is building a national network of institutional pods dedicated to fostering civil, thoughtful, and agency-affirming dialogue.

Application Requirements

Partner Institutions
New institutions are encouraged to apply with at least one partner committed to forming a new ICDP pod together. Single-institution applications are welcome, but applying with a partner strengthens your proposal.

Site Leads
Each institution should identify 1–2 faculty or staff who will lead the fellowship program. These individuals will take part in ICDP training and attend the three-day summer convention at the Prindle Institute for Ethics at no cost to them or their institution.

Institutional Support
Include a letter of support from the appropriate dean, vice president, vice provost, or similar campus leader endorsing the development of this program.

Vision for Pod
Your application should describe your vision for the character of your pod. ICDP pods give student fellows the chance to learn alongside peers with a wide range of backgrounds and viewpoints, so diversity among partner institutions is essential. (Current ICDP institutions include two-year and four-year campuses, an HBCU, a small private liberal arts college, R1 private research universities, a large public state university, and institutions from across the south, west, east, and midwest.).
