Putnam County Middle School Ethics Bowl
The Prindle Institute for Ethics is proud to host the second annual Putnam County Middle School Ethics Bowl—the first program of its kind in the Midwest. Designed specifically for middle school students, this event adapts the nationally recognized Ethics Bowl format for younger learners, using age-appropriate cases and match structures that emphasize collaboration over competition. Rather than debating to win, students are evaluated on the quality of their reasoning, their willingness to consider multiple perspectives, and their ability to listen and respond thoughtfully to others.
On March 14, students from Putnam County middle schools—North Putnam, South Putnam, Greencastle, and Cloverdale—will gather at the Prindle Institute to explore challenging ethical questions drawn from real-world situations that matter in their lives and communities. The Middle School Ethics Bowl offers a rare opportunity for young people to practice respectful disagreement, develop confidence in expressing their ideas, and experience ethical inquiry as a shared, public activity.
