2026 Midwest Ethics Symposium
The Institute invites submissions for the fourth annual Midwest Ethics Symposium, to be held April 7–8, 2026, on the theme of Technology and Well-Being. This year’s gathering will convene scholars, professionals, and students to explore how consumer technologies shape our lives, with special attention to their impact on health, identity, and overall quality of life.
We welcome the submission of extended abstracts (750-1000 words) on any topic related to this theme. Some important sub-themes include:
- Social media, identity and community
- AI usage and intellectual development
- The socio-political consequences of digital information access (e.g., echo chambers, algorithmic feeds)
- Digital technology applied to health and wellness (e.g., fitness trackers)
- The effects of digital technology on attention
- Simulated digital persons as companions
- AI and therapy (medical and mental)
