High School Educator Retreat

Recharge your teaching, reignite your classroom.

Each summer, the Prindle Institute for Ethics welcomes a cohort of passionate high school educators to our campus in the DePauw Nature Park for a three-day retreat devoted to the art of teaching tough topics. Together, we explore how to turn disagreement into dialogue and ethical questions into opportunities for growth. Through interactive sessions, case-based activities, and hands-on collaboration, you’ll gain practical tools from moral philosophy and deliberative pedagogy that you can use across subjects, disciplines, and grade levels—all while connecting with a community of educators who care deeply about helping students think critically about the world around them.

Summer 2025 Retreat

Join us in Greencastle June 4-6, 2025 to connect, collaborate, and recharge together during our 2025 High School Educator Retreat at the Prindle Institute for Ethics, centrally located in the beautiful 500-acre DePauw Nature Park.

Over the course of three days, you’ll network with other teachers, learn about cutting edge pedagogical methods in ethics and civic education from experienced educators, work collaboratively on purpose-built lesson planning, and have ample downtime to explore the Institute’s beautiful campus. Retreat sessions will be facilitated by expert faculty and staff from the Prindle Institute and beyond, and will feature discussions of moral frameworks for reasoning, case-based ethics pedagogy, strategies for promoting and facilitating dialogue (even and especially over deep disagreements), and more!
